Presentation, starting at 12:30pm, is hosted by the 2012 St. Louis Garden Blitz, presented by the Hort Co-op of Metro St. Louis and the Missouri Botanical Garden. 

PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION:
Herbaceous plants that cover the ground offer seasonal landscape interest, preserve precious topsoil among erosion-prone landscapes and deter the invasion of troublesome weeds. Commonly recognized ground cover plants certainly serve a purpose, but what about considering effective ornamental plant alternatives beyond the “big four” traditional favorites? Bill will share a select group of herbaceous perennials that “colonize” for effective covering of the ground while providing sustainable solutions for landscapes prone to damage by critters or landscapes realizing limited opportunities for supplemental irrigation.
