Presentation: Sustainable Plants in the Public Landscape: the Role of Natives, Selections of Natives, and Non-invasive Introductions
While the word "sustainable" seems to have reached critical mass in terms of its use, the word remains the best when describing the on-going movement to manage and protect resources and landscape environments. Other emerging words and phrases such as "Sustainable SITES Initiative", "stormwater detention and retention", "bioswales", "rain gardens", "stormwater infiltration", and acronyms such as "EPA", "LEEDS", "USGBC", and "BMP" are becoming increasingly prevalent with the language among landscape professionals. This presentation will provide an overview of current sustainable landscape initiatives and what they may mean for landscapes of the Gateway region.
The program begins at 7:30pm.
